Reality : These are the questions we suggest you ask yourself and your family before creating a plan of care that involves “your family taking care of you”.

  1. Is there anyone in the family with the medical expertise required?
  2. Can the family afford to lose the income of the caregiver if they have to leave their job?
  3. Is there anyone who is able to take on the physical and emotional demands of caring for someone full time? If there is, do they or you want them to or are they physically capable to;
    1. Bathe you
    2. Toilet you

  4. Do you have family members that live in the immediate area or would they need to move to care for you?
